Junior Tennis Clinics
-
Jr Red Ball
Ages 6-8
Mondays or Wednesdays 4-5pmClasses will be taught on a smaller court with modified nets. Players will use larger, lower bouncing balls and smaller racquets to learn basic stroke shapes and tennis movement.
Lessons will focus on receiving and sending the ball as well as developing overall agility. Coaches will lead players in cooperative activities and competitive situations using skill-based tasks performed in teams.
The maximum student to instructor ratio is 4:1.
-
Jr Orange Ball
Ages 9-11
Mondays or Wednesdays 5-6pmOrange Ball Classes are taught on a smaller court. The orange ball is regulation tennis ball size but, like the red ball, is slower than regulation ball (yellow ball). Players in these classes also use smaller racquets to learn basic stroke shapes and tennis movement.
In addition to more advanced lessons on the strokes covered in red ball, orange ball students will be introduced to overhand serves, tennis scoring, and doubles play.
Coaches will lead players in more challenging activities and competitive situations.
The maximum student to instructor ration is 4:1.
-
Jr Green Ball
Middle + High School Beginners
Tuesdays or Thursdays 4-5pmStudents in this class will use green balls and regulation racquets to learn basic form and stroke mechanics, playing on a full size tennis court. The green ball is closer in bounce to a regulation tennis ball (yellow ball).
The main goal is to establish form and timing of all major shots. Basic footwork will be emphasized as well. We hope participants will continue with tennis and strive to compete for their school and area teams.
The maximum student to instructor ratio is 6:1.
-
Jr Yellow Ball
Advanced Beginner-Intermediate Middle + High School Players
Tuesdays or Thursdays 5-6pmStudents in this class are usually interested in trying out for their high school team and have the ability to rally on a full court using the regulation yellow ball.
Coaches will focus on continued improvement of technique and footwork, including more emphasis on the overhand serve. More advanced singles and doubles strategies will also be introduced.
Students signing up for this class should have some prior tennis instruction.
The maximum student to instuctor ratio is 6:1.
-
High School Varsity
Wednesdays and/or Sundays 6-8pm
This program is for players who have high school varsity experience or some tournament play experience.
These two-hour sessions will include 30-45 minutes of group instruction, with the rest of the time devoted to match play.
